IO Interactive, the developers of Hitman 1 & 2 and the soon-to-be-released Freedom Fighters, are enjoying a string of successes at the moment. Hitman 2 was such a big hit (hahah) that the company has increased its workforce by 50% since January. The company now has 120 employees, and they expect to hire an additional 20-30 employees in the remaining months of 2003.
A little while ago Mr. 47 arrived in Japan, where he quickly became so popular, that Hitman 2 is now the best selling Xbox game in Japan.
- The Xbox market is not very large, but it shows that our game will be very well received in Japan, when we launch the PS2 version over there. The PS2 market is naturally huge in Japan, said IOI’s Janos Flösser.
Last year IOI’s turnover was roughly $15 million (DKK 97,5 million) and profits reached $6 million (DKK 40 million). The profit will mainly be used for developing 5-6 new games.
