The last 12 months have been fantastic for Electronic Arts. That became apparent today as the company announced its financial results. The bottom line of the announcement was a 44 percent increase in profits to $2.482 billion, compared with $1.725 billion for the prior year.

From a gaming point of view, it is however more interesting to look at how the company’s games fared. The sales figures are staggering and must cause some frustration among Electronic Arts' competitors:

The Sims and Harry Potter sold over 10 million units each! Additionally four other franchises sold more than five million units: Medal of Honor, James Bond, FIFA Soccer and Madden NFL Football. In total the company had twenty-two platinum titles (over one million units sold) in their 2003 fiscal year.

Thus no one is surprised by the extreme confidence that Electronic Art's management exhibits:

- This was an outstanding year for Electronic Arts. The company achieved all of its key objectives, and we are the leader on next generation consoles and on the PC. We enter our next fiscal year in great shape and with the strongest product line-up in our history, said Larry Probst, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
